FACTOR 55 ROPE RETENTION PULLEY
The world’s first winch friction pulley with patented rope retention feature. A lightweight alternative to traditional heavy snatch blocks/pulleys. The RRP can be used to increase pulling power or redirect the winch line. The RRP is for use with SYNTHETIC ROPE ONLY and is to be used in conjunction with a soft shackle. During momentary slack, patented rope retention rubber fingers prevent synthetic winch rope from escaping the pulley groove preventing premature rope failure. The oversized hole radius provides a smooth rubbing surface and keeps the legs of the soft shackle from rubbing on the edges of the RRP. The critical friction surface has also been TEFLON treated to increase slickness and heat dissipation.

Question
David Rivers (verified owner) –
Mad Matt 4WD says on his video that you said to use a standard duty soft shackle with the RRP. He disagrees and says to use the Extreme duty shackle because it’s higher rating. Of course I’m inclined to follow your recommendation rather than some dude on the Internet but I searched and can’t find it. So what’s the deal?

The correct method of use is with the Standard Duty Soft Shackle. The HMPE fibers are self-lubricating and the soft shackle acts as the bearing for the pulley. Using the Extreme Duty Soft Shackle introduces unwanted friction because of the protective sleeve on the Extreme Duty Soft Shackle. That being said, you can use the Extreme Duty Soft Shackle with the pulley, you just need to be aware it may not be as efficient as using the Standard Duty Sift Shackle. The Standard Duty has a breaking strength of 39,000 lbs and the Extreme Duty of 43,500 lbs. So as far as strength goes, it really isn’t that much stronger.
