Question
ALRUI –
What about the newer EVO 10 winches that are METRIC? The bolts with the Warn winch are M10 X 1.5. Any plans to make a lock kit with the metric thread?

Hi Alrui,
Not at this time but you can simply slide out one of the square/captive nuts from one of the feet on the winch and replace it with a square/captive nut with a 3/8-16 thread pitch that matches our bolt threading.
You can source a 3/8-16 square nut from any hardware store. If you need more information please contact us at sales@factor55.com
Thank you for your business!

Question
Raphael Acosta –
This is a great idea however…I need a winch lock bolt(s) set for a Warn winch model M8274-70. This model uses bolt sizes 7/16″-14X1 1/2″ and 7/16″-14X1 3/4″. When are you going to offer a Factor 55 Winch lock set for this winch? I will buy them if you do!

Will this work with a ZEON 10s winch?

Factor 55 –
It will, but you will need to get a 3/8-16 threaded captive nut and replace the M10 captive nut that comes on the Zeon winches.

Hi Raphael,
You simply remove one of the mounting bolts and captive nuts and replace the captive nut in the foot of your winch with a 3/8-16 square nut that matches the thread pitch of our Winch Lock Bolt.
We will send you an email with some pictures of an 8274 on one of our Jeeps with Winch Lock Bolts.
Thank you!

Question
smitty61416 –
probably stupid question but will this bolt work with the winch mounting holes on the 01 jeep tj front bumper. I just mounted a quadrated raised winch mount and quadratec 9500i on my tj and want to lock down one of the 4 mounting bolts where the winch plate is attached to the bumper/frame.

Hello smitty61416,
As long as the actual winch plate is not too thick you should have enough thread on the Winch Lock Bolt to connect to one of the feet of your winch. The Winch Lock Bolt has a 1.25″ shank length and a 3/8-16 thread pitch. If your current mounting bolts do not have this same thread pitch, you simply need to remove the captive nut in your winch foot and replace it with one that matches the 3/8-16 thread pitch.
Please give us a call if you have any more specific questions.

But the 3/8-16 square nuts available at Home Depot seem to be type 2 steel or lower, whereas the winch lock itself is apparently the equivalent of type 5 steel, so much stronger. Isn’t this a problem?

Factor 55 –
You are correct. We have not seen a problem with the softer square nuts. If this is a concern, you may be able to find a square nut equivalent at an industrial hardware supplier. Remember, most of the forces produced by the winch results in bolt shear where the grade 5 bolt will be resisting most of this force.

Yes it will but you will need to replace the M10 square nut in the foot of your Warn Winch with a 3/8-16 square nut that will interface our bolt.
